Start the hunting flow
Use the current hunt control, crouch or stalk as prompted, and look for the experience’s scent or tracking cues. Community hunting guides report that moving too quickly can weaken or lose scent information. Follow one trail deliberately rather than switching among overlapping indicators.
For land prey, close distance and use the on-screen lunge or catch prompt when it appears. For fish, position at valid water and respond to the fishing indicator or timing cue. Controls and prompt placement can differ by device, so follow the current interface.
Match prey to habitat
Open ground is a sensible place to search for rabbits; forest and undergrowth suit mice, squirrels, and birds; damp areas may suit frogs; fish require appropriate water. These habitat associations narrow the search but do not guarantee a coordinate. Dynamic spawns, other hunters, and map changes affect availability.
Learn a loop with two habitat zones and a clear midpoint. Walk the first pass to read scents and visual prompts. Return later rather than circling one empty patch indefinitely.
Carry, drop, and share
The official experience description documents the V key for dropping an item on desktop. Current mobile controls should show an equivalent action in the interface. Confirm which object is held before dropping, especially near several prey or herbs.
In roleplay, offer the prey instead of deciding that another cat eats it. Ask whether the nursery, elders, or medicine den needs food. If two players approach the same target, settle the scene cooperatively; map access does not give either player ownership of a spawn before the game resolves it.
Create a hunting patrol
Give the patrol a habitat, time limit, and return point. Let an apprentice identify scent, choose the approach, and respond to a missed attempt. A failed catch can still produce tracks, weather observations, or useful practice.
Keep group size modest. Several cats chasing one scent can obscure prompts and chat. If the goal is a lesson, one mentor and one or two learners provide more room for each player to act.
Distinguish current and seasonal prey
An event wiki entry or old video proves historical existence, not current availability. Look for an official event announcement, a working seasonal map or quest, and a live prey model. Badge pages can also remain visible after the earning window closes.
When evidence conflicts, label the prey “needs live check” and include the date. Do not promise a reward or event objective based solely on search-result snippets.
Troubleshoot a hunt
If no scent appears, confirm the hunting mode, reduce speed, move to a suitable habitat, and wait for a new trail. If the trail ends, search a small radius rather than continuing in one random direction. If the lunge prompt fails, check distance, camera view, lag, and whether another player completed the catch.
