Start with a small character plan
Join through the official Roblox place and let the editor load before clicking rapidly. Decide only three things at first: where your cat lives, what role you want to try, and one recognizable visual feature. A RiverClan apprentice with a pale muzzle, a rogue with a torn ear, or a kittypet with a simple collar is enough. You can revise the design later through the Editor button.
Choose a base coat, secondary color, eye color, and a restrained set of markings. Rotate the preview and inspect both sides; a marking that looks balanced from the front can merge into the coat from the side. Save the morph before testing extra fur, scars, or accessories. The editor includes free options and gamepass-linked options, but you do not need a paid pack to make a readable cat. The free morph guide shows how to build contrast with the default tools.
Give the character a short working name and one-sentence premise. Clan names commonly use a prefix and suffix, while kits and apprentices conventionally use -kit and -paw; rogues, loners, and kittypets do not need that pattern. These are roleplay conventions, not a reason to police another player’s character.
Pick a group and enter the forest
The Clans & Map menu supports ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, Rogues & Loners, and Kittypets. Pick the group that best fits the scene you want, not the one another player says is objectively strongest. WCUE is built around roleplay and exploration rather than a ranked Clan power system.
Community documentation says a new player begins with the barn and Twolegplace teleports while Clan locations unlock after discovery. If a camp button is unavailable, enter the map from an accessible point and explore. Watch the territory name at the top of the screen. When it changes, stop and check the Clans & Map menu and Starpedia to see what was recorded.
For a calm first trip, find one safe hub, one water source, and one shared landmark. Fourtrees is a useful meeting point; the barn is an easy outsider base; each Clan camp gives you a clear place to return. Do not try to memorize the entire map in one run. Learn the bottom options bar
Most WCUE tasks begin in the options bar. Current community documentation lists Clans & Map, Animations, Editor, Exchange Designs, Your Cat Info, Starpedia, Server Browser, Settings, and Minimap. Open each once while standing somewhere quiet.
- Clans & Map changes allegiance and handles discovered teleports.
- Animations contains poses and expressions; select the same pose again if it locks movement.
- Editor returns to character customization.
- Exchange Designs sends and accepts morph exchange requests.
- Your Cat Info manages your displayed name, description, size, role, and roleplay wound presentation.
- Starpedia records territories, resources, and lore.
- Server Browser separates roleplay and trading destinations.
- Settings and Minimap control presentation and orientation.
Interface order can change. Learn the icon purpose instead of relying on “fourth button” forever. On a phone, rotate the camera and close other panels if a control seems hidden.
Practice movement and camera control
Desktop movement uses W/A/S/D and Space. Q and E move down and up through speed states, so use them deliberately: slower speeds suit stalking and close roleplay; faster speeds suit travel. V drops a carried item, M toggles the minimap, and Shift+P toggles the overlay. Use the mouse wheel to zoom and right-drag to turn the camera.
On mobile, movement and camera use the two touch regions, while action buttons replace keyboard shortcuts. Practice circling a tree, entering and leaving a den, changing speed, and centering the camera behind your cat. This prevents accidental collisions when you join a crowded camp.
Open Animations and try sit, rest, sleep, and one expression. Toggle each off before moving. Do not worry about memorizing hotkeys; the controls guide provides the reference when you need it.
Use Starpedia to create a discovery loop
Open Starpedia and read its Lore section before joining a formal Clan scene. It covers Clan roles, naming, Fourtrees, the Moonstone, StarClan, the Dark Forest, and the warrior code. The territory section fills as you discover places, and the resource section fills as you collect herbs. Community documentation links complete exploration and herb knowledge with the Sage badge and Star Scarf, but live badge conditions should still be checked on the current Roblox badge page and in-game.
A useful loop is: enter a new territory, read its on-screen name, locate one landmark, open Starpedia, and return to a known route. For herbs, collect the item only when the interaction prompt appears, then check whether the entry updated. Do not import every medicine from the novels into WCUE; the game contains a smaller documented set.
Join your first roleplay
Choose a roleplay server, then observe for a minute. A good recruitment message tells you the Clan or setting, available roles, and whether the scene is casual or structured. Ask before taking leader, deputy, or medicine cat. If no organizer responds, start with a flexible role such as warrior, apprentice, rogue, or kittypet.
Introduce your cat with one action and one line of dialogue. Give others room to answer. Do not decide another player is injured, defeated, related to you, or in love with your character without permission. If you are unsure about a custom server rule, ask out of character briefly.
Simple hooks work: volunteer for a patrol, bring prey, ask for a tour, report an unfamiliar scent, or request training. Avoid flooding chat with a long biography. Your displayed description can hold a few useful traits while the story reveals the rest.
Try one hunting or collection task
Once movement feels comfortable, try hunting. Lower to crouch with Q on desktop or the speed control on mobile, enable hunting mode, select a scent marker, and follow it slowly. When prey becomes interactable, approach and watch for the short lunge prompt. Fishing begins at a fish beacon near suitable water and uses a timing bar. Read the hunting guide before assuming a missing trail is a bug.
Alternatively, collect a herb for Starpedia. The herbs index lists the currently documented set without claiming every book remedy is an in-game mechanic. Carry only one item at a time and use V or the mobile drop control when you need to release it.
Recover from common beginner mistakes
If you selected the wrong Clan, use Clans & Map to change rather than restarting the account. If a teleport is locked, physically discover the territory. If your character will not move, turn off the current pose and raise the speed. If the overlay disappeared, restore it with Shift+P on desktop. If a roleplay is already in progress, ask where you can enter instead of interrupting the central scene.
If another player demands personal information, account access, Robux, or an off-platform download, leave and report them. Morph exchange should happen through the in-game confirmation flow, and legitimate codes are entered in the editor. Your first goal is not to master every term; it is to finish one safe loop—create, explore, communicate, and return with enough understanding to choose the next guide.
